Treasurer
Ginny Hanbury
Ginny has been treasurer since 2016 taking on the role soon after she joined the committee. She became involved with carriage driving over 20 years ago when her friends started driving and their 3 children took up the sport – they always need another backstepper! She regularly helps out backstepping and is lucky enough to drive one of their ponies too. Despite never owning her own turnout she has a great time being a supporting member of the team.
Secretary
Dionne (Dee) Ball – 07468487975
Dee started looking into carriage driving when she could no longer ride due to an injury. She joined GWHC with her husband in October 2024, and they initially came along as spectators while searching for a suitable driving horse/pony. Rumble joined their herd in July 2025, and they were ‘encouraged’ to bring him and his carriage along to a fun clear round cones event. Unlike his owners, who had all the gear and no idea, Rumble knew exactly what he was doing, and thanks to the support received, they have finally started their carriage driving journey. Dee joined the committee in May 2026 becoming the secretary shortly after, and she also did the scoring for the latter half of the 2025/26 Indoor Carriage Driving season. She enjoys making rosettes as one of her hobbies.
Membership Secretary
Cathy Tucker – 07773 379920
Cathy is the membership secretary and kindly does the scoring for the IDC events. She learnt to ride (many more years ago than she would like to admit!) at a riding school in South London. Her little sister got a Welsh section A who hated being ridden, so they decided to break him to drive. The 11.2h pony led to a family hobby that then became her parents business. Cathy and her sister would often help out with lessons, weddings and funerals. She got her pony Rocky when he was 6 months and enjoyed many years pleasure driving
Child Protection Officer
Julie Booton – 07977 552908
Julie has been a member of the club for the past 4 years, and drives Fin aka Ginger. She loves getting out with the ponies and being part of a social friendly club, making it accessible to everyone. She especially loves to encourage the young drivers. Julie has a background in driving shires and loves the indoor driving leagues where she can improve each time throughout the seasons.
General Committee
Rachel Moast
Rachel has been a part of the GWHC committee over the years, holding a variety of roles including chair. Rachel is an active and experienced competitor and trainer (both riding and driving), and she and her super steed Curly were the 2024 Open Single Horse National Champions.
Bernadette Stacey
Bernadette took up driving a couple of years ago as a hobby outside of her everyday farm life and running Equus Health. She has a real passion for indoor driving and loves the cones and obstacles
Danielle Reekie
Danielle has been a GWHC member since 2020 when she relocated to Cornwall from Surrey, moving west to pursue her dream of creating and running a fully surfaced track livery. She has competed in the South and SouthEast regions and enjoys being involved in running the indoor and outdoor GWHC events.
Lynn Combes
Lynn has always been keen to help out at GWHC events and was recently persuaded to join the committee. She is a keen horse rider and enjoys attending county and equestrian shows.
Phil Ball
Since joining GWHC in October 2024, Phil has been a regular volunteer at club events, helping with setting up courses and timing competitors. He and Dee currently own three horses and he regularly rides their oversized but very placid Irish Cob Molly who has also been driven in the past. They’re looking forward to starting to drive her once they can find a harness that fits.
